Tricep Exercises

If you want to build impressive arms (which many people do!) then you need to take advantage of tricep weight training exercises and focus on building the tricep muscles.

When it comes to building arm muscles, it can sometimes be very easy to get carried away with training the biceps as this is the muscle that the majority think of when referring to 'big arms'. In reality the triceps make up a massive two thirds of the upper arm and is an absolute 'must train' if your goal is to add size to the arms.

Triceps anatomy

The triceps (tricep brachii) are located of the back of the upper arm and are made up of 3 heads which are:

  • the long head
  • the lateral head
  • the medial head

These heads all combine to make the triceps the largest of the arm muscles and the primary function being to extend the arm at the elbow joint.

Training the triceps

All forms of extension and close grip pressing exercises work effectively to build the triceps. These include the close grip bench press and one arm dumbbell extensions.

Check out the following exercises for triceps. They're complete with exercise instructions and tips for improving your technique.
